Sungai Watch- the achievements of the last quarter

Our garbage barrier in Bali, Indonesia has been doing its job since November 2022 and has already collected 298 kg of garbage and prevented it from entering the sea.

In addition, Sungai Watch volunteers have set up two new stations in villages and have already collected 100,000 kg of plastic. For example, they have completely cleared a former illegal landfill of trash and planted 1600 sunflowers there. In this way, they have regenerated a non-usable, polluted area and integrated it back into the ecosystem.
The plan is to expand the area in which they are working to free more and more villages from garbage.
It is also interesting to know what happens to the mountains of garbage after all the barriers are cleaned and maintained daily. The collected garbage is taken to one of the sorting facilities where it is first sorted into 30 categories. Then the trash is washed, shredded and processed for upcycling. Where possible, every piece of waste is reused, for example to make high-quality plastic sheets.

The mountains of garbage that the team of Sungai watch remove every day, and the areas that become usable again as a result, show how important their work is. That is why we support Sungai Watch.
